Meet Our Staff

The warm relationships that develop between teachers and students in our school are central to learning. Our teachers work with parents to support and develop this relationship in order to nurture each student's enthusiasm for discovery.

In a traditional Waldorf school teachers remain with the children through the grades. Similarly, at our preschools, the teachers move with the children from age 2 1/2 through age 5 1/2, building a continuous trusting relationship with their students, supporting children's growth and development. Through this longer-term commitment, teachers are able to develop a deep understanding of each child's learning style and strengths, allowing students to fully engage in their learning.

Our staff is made up of co-teachers, meaning that for the most part each teacher participates equally, contributing his/her own unique talents to the school. Some of these skills include sitting at the head of the table and conversing with the children during mealtimes, memorizing stories or finger-plays and doing a seasonal circle.

All of our teachers are enrolled in the Criminal History Registry and are required to have their First Aid/CPR Certification and Food Handler’s Card. Teachers who provide care for more than 20 hours in a calendar year undergo at least 15 hours of childcare training and have familiarized themselves with our preschool’s policies and procedures, as well as the state requirements. All of our preschools also follow the state requirement of at least one teacher for every eight students.

Miss Linnie

Miss Linnie is a certified Waldorf teacher and specializes in class instruction for all ages 3-12. She introduces to her staff and children the world of inner growing and knowledge. The connection she has with the earth, plants, children and adults are a shining light in her practice. She interacts with the children with true magic as she brings out the truth of who they really are: angels with a gift. This relationship enables the children to explore their world with love, joy and reverence. Through the years, Miss Linnie has testimonials that support her theory "a child is filled with all the seeds they need. We need only to nurture and help them communicate it to the world".

Miss Sara

Miss Sara has been working at Miss Linnie's Sunflower Preschool since 2012. She has over 10 years experience in childcare and has been to various classes and trainings in childcare and Waldorf education. She loves to read, knit, travel, and go hiking and exploring in nature
